EVOH can be regarded as EVA (ethylene—acetic acid ethylene ester copolymer) modified material. Its most remarkable characteristic is that it has excellent gas obstruct ability, which is 10000 times higher than polyethylene. To the gas and the solvent, it also has good barrier properties. It has both ethylene polymer’s good process capability and vinyl alcohol polymer’s high gas obstruct ability. It is a new colorless, transparent obstruct material, and the PVDC, PA, the three material are the best barrier resin in the world. It also has excellent oil resistance and the resistance of organic solvents, excellent antistatic properties, it can regenerate, doesn’t contain Chlorine and Dioxin, is green product. In dry and relative humidity(RH<60% = condition, its permeability is extremely low, but the gas barrier property is 10 to 50 times or even more times higher than Nylon, is only behind the aluminum foil. According to the use of soft packaging, you must considered the material’s process capability and physical property, to choose EVOH as the barrier layer, can prevent oxygen and water vapor infiltrating into the content and also can chain up the aroma, fluid juice and the solvent of the content. Chemical oil resistance
EVOH compound film has excellent oil resistance and organic liquor resistance. Put it in the liquor and oil in the 68 degree F. A year later, the increased percentage of the weight is : to the cyclohexane, xylene, petroleum ether, benzene and acetone is 0% ; to the glycol is 2.3% ; to the methanol is 12.2%; to the salad oil is 0.1%.
Thermal/ Mechanical Properties
EVOH compound film has high mechanical strength, the flexibility, the skin hardness, the friction-resistant ability and the weatherability, it also has strong antistatic property. The material has high gloss and the low fog density, so it has a high degree of transparency.
